Muck Men’s Woody Sport Ankle Boot Review: For Cold, Wet Chores

Quick Verdict

If you want an ankle-height, waterproof pull-on for mud, slush, and snow, the Men’s Woody Sport Ankle Boot is a perfect choice.

It looks best for winter yard work, farm chores, and messy dog walks where you want warmth without a tall shaft.

It’s not the right pick if you regularly deal with deep water/drifts, or if you want a boot with a listed safety toe.

Key takeaway: Warm, insulated, waterproof… but only 6″ tall.

What it is

The Men’s Woody Sport Ankle Boot (Style #WDSA001) is a rubber/neoprene-style pull-on boot marketed as 100% waterproof and “MUCKPROOF”, designed for cold, wet conditions.

Muck highlights an insulated upper, a warm lining, and an outsole intended for traction in messy winter terrain.

How I tested / used it

I have been using these boots anytime I’m doing general yardwork for several months. They are very comfortable in hot weather and cold, and despite being only 6 inches tall, I was able to use them in deep snow. They are waterproof and easy to get on and off. They also look good. The only complaint I might mention is that they are a little heavy. I also wish they were slip-resistant because they would be perfect for restaurant work, but they don’t claim to be, so it isn’t a fault.

Overall, they will probably go down as one of my favorite pairs of boots. I highly recommend them.

Key specs

  • Height: 6 inches
  • Heel height: 1 inch
  • Average weight (men’s size 10): 1.45 lb

Pros

  • Ankle height = easier on/off than tall boots for quick chores.
  • Waterproof + neoprene bootie construction is a proven recipe for cold, wet ground.
  • Warm lining
  • EVA midsole is a nice inclusion for underfoot comfort compared to pure rubber boots.
  • Odor/moisture treatment (bioDEWIX/NZYM) is a practical feature for a boot that’ll get sweaty or damp.

Cons

  • Only 6″ tall: great for puddles and slop, but not ideal for deep water or deep snow.
  • No temperature rating listed, so it’s hard to compare warmth vs. other insulated winter boots.
  • Width options aren’t emphasized on the product page (it shows Medium D).
  • No safety toe
  • Not slip-resistant

Who should buy it

  • You want a waterproof, insulated ankle boot for mud, slush, and wet grass.
  • You do quick outdoor chores and don’t want the bulk of a tall boot.
  • You like pull-on boots for winter errands, feeding animals, yard work, or rainy commutes.

Who shouldn’t

  • You’re frequently in deep puddles, flooded areas, or deep drifts (go taller).
  • You require wide sizing, slip resistance, or a safety toe.

Alternatives to consider

1) Muck Woody Sport Tall Boot (same family, more coverage)

2) Muck Arctic Sport line (for colder conditions)

3) XTRATUF Men’s Ankle Deck Boot (if you want a water-focused ankle boot)

Bottom line

The Muck Men’s Woody Sport Ankle Boot is a solid on-paper fit for anyone who wants waterproof protection and cold-weather comfort in an easy, ankle-height boot.

Just be honest about the trade-off: 6 inches of height is convenient, but it’s not built for deep water or deep snow.
